What You Need to Know
Either electronic or hydraulic, your automatic transmission’s valve body sends signals that trigger the clutch and shift gears at the correct time. Because it’s important for controlling the transmission’s function, you’ll need repair if the valve body goes bad. This problem may trigger the check engine light. If so, the universal trouble code generated may be P2707, P0829, P0715, P0783, or P0751. Other tell-tale signs may be increased RPMs during an upshift, difficulty getting your car into a lower gear, slow shifting ability during acceleration or deceleration, slipping gears, and moving between gears without prompting or warning.
